AUCTION PREVIEW: 8th December 2012 Toy Auction - by Marie Doherty

As Christmas approaches, so does the last Toy auction of 2012, and with over a thousand lots, this is not a sale to be missed! 

We have around 150 lots of Model Kits and also some examples of original Airfix artwork.
Take a look at a sample of the kits available:



Travelling all the way from Scotland to attend our auction is this unique 'Callard and Bowser' Butter-Scotch tin in the shape of the Loch Ness Monster, opening to base, c.1930'S.




We have quite a few rare boxed 'Spot-on' models in this sale, a must-see for any collector. Here is an example of one the lots:

STAR LOT: 1960's Ichida (Japan) Ford Gyron remote control car - by Nell Hilditch

This 1960's Ichida (Japan) Ford-Gyron remote control car will go under the hammer just in time for Christmas, in our 8th December toy auction.

The car is in great condition for its age and complete with original box.

Estimate: £100 - £120

STAR LOT: Cosworth Engineering Ltd. Memorabilia - by Nell Hilditch

Coming up in our March sale is a fantastic lot of memorabilia from the Cosworth Engineering Ltd. firm (lot 239a, estimate £300-£500), a company founded in 1958 as a British racing internal combustion engine manufacturer. The lot includes two commemorative Bassett Lowke model engines presented to members of the Cosworth Engineering firm by Keith Duckworth - Chairman of Cosworth and designer of the DFV engine. The first features a replica of the engine used in Jim Clarke's racing car to commemorate 100 Formula One World Championship victories achieved between 1967-1977 with engines manufactured by Cosworth Engineering. The second model was presented to commemorate 150 wins in US Champ-Car racing and 20 consecutive Indianapolis 500 mile race victories (1977-1987) achieved with DFX engines manufactured by Cosworth Engineering.

FEATURED COLLECTION: Matchbox Models of Yesteryear in March 24th auction - by Nell Hilditch

We have a fantastic collection of Matchbox Models of Yesteryear in the sale on 24th March. Lots include scarce examples such as this Y12 'Deans Est. 75 years' Ford Model T Van (lot 774, estimate £400-£500). This model is one of only three in existence and was produced for a junior director of the company.


And this Y4-4 1930 Model J Duesenberg with white body, red chassis, black hood and seats (lot 763, estimate £400-£500).

STAR LOTS: Original Matchbox Illustrations in January sale - by Nell Hilditch

Check out these original Matchbox illustrations by Ron Jobson, lot 749 in our January 28th sale!
All three images are featured in the 1969 Matchbox catalogue. Picture one is a No.16d '69 Case Bull-Dozer as featured on page 8, signed 'Jobson' (9.5cmx22cm); picture two is a No.63c '68 Dodge Crane Truck as featured on page 15 (25.5cmx7cm); picture three is a No.51c '69 8-Wheel Tipper as featured on page 12 (9.5cmx22cm)




We also have several rare Matchbox models going under the hammer including lot 688, Lesney Matchbox 26b Foden Cement Mixer with orange body, light grey barrel and knobbly grey plastic wheels (estimate £150-£250).

STAR LOT: Matchbox PS2 Car Transporter Gift Set - by Nell Hilditch

Just finished cataloguing all 78 lots of our fantastic Matchbox collection for the January auction. The collection includes several scarce examples including a 26b Foden Cement Mixer with orange body, light grey barrel and KGPW (estimate £150-£250), and some fantastic gift sets including this PS2 Transporter and 4 Car Set (estimate £400-£500).
